Fossil Discovery Center

The museum features fossils from the Middle-Pleistocene (780,000 years ago) including a Mammoth, Smilodon, Sloth, Dire Wolf, Camel, and Horse. 15,000 fossils have been found at Fairmead.

The museum is adjacent to the Fairmead Landfill, which is where all the fossils were discovered. Smilodon and Mammoth skeletons are about as close as mammals get to the prestige of dinosaur bones.
