The City of Lake Charles created a small public park centered around a pond that contains large turtles and at least one alligator.

There is a fenced-in pond, called Cypress Pond, on the south side of interstate 10 in Lake Charles near the bridge. You take exit 29/30, depending on which way you're coming from and loop around under the bridge to the I-10 service road. It's on the right about 3/4 mile. It houses multiple turtles and a 5-6 foot alligator.
