This is the original building from the scenes in the 2003 production of Texas Chainsaw Massacre featuring the creepy gas station. It is still just as creepy, especially at night. During the day it is an operating general store/country diner (emphasis on COUNTRY). Secondhand Lions was also filmed near here, which the owner will tell you all about.
The building was originally built in 1891, as the Richland Saloon. There is a picture on the wall of the original saloon, and even though the building has been added onto over the years you can still see it in the inside architecture. The people, kitsch, and atmosphere will have you wanting to stay for hours. It's a little out in the country but only about 35-40 minutes from downtown Austin.
