It was very windy on the March day we went, but still pretty. We could tell they were beginning to set up for the Passion Play. Living in a completely different part of the state, it's incredible what type of rock formations and landscapes are just a few hours away from the big cities.

Always a treat. We love coming up here and spending the day in the Wichita Mountains. The Holy City does some events around Christmas, but Easter they put on a Passion play that has been going on every year for almost 100 years. We have never been, but would like to attend this year. We hear it is absolutely wonderful.

The in-laws took us in 2011. We drove south from Meers to get there. It looked like a pretty thorough city of Israel for portraying an elaborate Easter play. There were tons of buildings. Nothing was going on that day. We just walked around and gawked. Only two buildings were open.
One was a creepy room full of period-dressed mannequins, on a fake hill. I think we were supposed to be witnessing "Sermon on the Mount." But it had prison-like bars between us, so it was just too odd. (yay!)
The other was an old church with a spooky photo of the woman who put the whole city together by the front door. I can't forget that picture for some reason.

66-acre property resembles Biblical Israel and is the venue for an Easter Passion Play. There's a marble statue of Christ, a Lord's Supper building, Herod's Court, and a chapel replica of George Washington's church. Also includes an Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial. Feb. 2018: Photo added.
