Baton Rouge, Louisiana: Bleeding, Weeping, Smiling Miracle Mary (Gone)

On July 5, 2012, the Virgin Mary on the front lawn of a house began to bleed, then weep, then smile, according to its Vietnamese owners. The usual crush of believers arrived, and neighbors were not happy.

We arrived at the house but Mary was nowhere to be found. A neighbor told us she had been removed last year.

Not much to see, surrounded by fake flowers and shielded with a rainbow umbrella.

Dazzling the neighborhood with miracles only since July 5, 2012 -- give her time for a more permanent shrine. In the meantime, followers have been known to set up lawn chairs to witness the next weeping or bleeding.
