Such a joyful place!!

[Chrissie, 07/28/2019]

Randy Gilson's personal neighborhood project, "Randyland," has been underway for years -- part art environment and part community fun hub.

We ventured to the Northside to hunt down the magical place called Randyland, which many people may consider junk. It was a place of history, whimsical art, and hours of dedication to create a unique slice of Americana Art.

Referred to by locals as a modern day Andy Warhol, we had the privilege to meet Randy and hear his story and why he does what he does. He will tell you, "wealth isn't measured by your wallet, it's measured by what you create," and "Blessings are like raindrops, some you absorb and some you miss. But they are there for you to take and use to get you what you need to create your dreams."

This was a great, quick stop. Don't go there without talking to Randy. The guy is genuine and the most positive person you will ever meet. He talked to our twin twelve year old sons.

We visited Randyland on the first day of a 13-day vacation. Throughout our vacation, when our kids would act up, we would say to them, "Now what would Randy say about this?"

This is the most unique and interesting place in Pittsburgh. Free to public, but please leave Randy a donation in the jar by the gate so he can continue to create and help keep Pittsburgh unusual!
