Monahans Sandhills State Park stretches across almost 4,000 acres of powdery sand dunes, some up to 70 feet high. Visitors can rent toboggans and disks at the park to surf down the dunes.

If you are able to walk easily in sand, this stop would be major fun for you. Sand dunes go on and on. I wondered if the ocean was over the next dune. Nope! These dunes are in the middle of Texas nowhere! Very windy.

Cost $4 per person for admission. You can rent large discs to slide down the dunes for $2.25. Fun for adults and kids! Pack plenty of water; they have covered picnic tables if you bring lunches. Outdoor showers to rinse off.
