Dallas, Texas: Lee Harvey Oswald's Boarding Room

John F. Kennedy's alleged assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, roomed in this Oak Cliff boarding house starting in October 1963, while he worked at the Texas Book Depository. See his bed, and the dresser where he kept his murderous pistol. Sign on the front lawn identifies the house.

We hit this jewel by hopping on one of the Dallas city bus tours. Our guide let us in, and it was as if we walked through a time portal. Every article in the home was said to be original, and as strange as it may sound it even smelled like the sixties; very transportive. My teenage kids were super creeped out, which made it even more fun.

We were permitted to take as many photographs as we wanted so long as someone was in them.

Viewing the house from the street is free, but the owner has a sign out front with a phone number. If she's home, she'll give you a tour of the place (there's only two rooms you get to see) for a $20 donation. She told me I could only take two photos during the tour.
