Woody was carved in 1974 as "Indomitable," the super silver salmon. Its first home was the Prairie Creek Fish Hatchery in Orick, where I had lived and worked from 1984 to 1985.

Woody, a silver salmon carved from a single log, sits on the edge of the parking lot of Buck's Restaurant in Woodside. The restaurant itself is worth a visit, packed from door to door and floor to ceiling with a mix of curiosities too numerous to describe here.
Woodside is in the foothills just above Silicon Valley, and it is said that many an internet sensation has been pitched by its founders to eager venture capitalists in the booths of this establishment. So keep your ears open, you might pick up a good stock tip.
