Warrenton, Oregon: Japanese Attacked Here
Two monuments mark the spot where a Japanese submarine shelled U.S. costal defenses, the only World War II attack by the Japanese against a mainland U.S. military installation.
- Address:
- Delaura Beach Lane, Warrenton, OR
- Directions:
- Memorial monument is on the north side of Delaura Beach Lane just west of its intersection with Ridge Rd. The shell crater is about 50 ft. west of the monument, just before the pond by the north side of the road.. It's further back from the road than the monument, and smaller, so it may be difficult to spot if the underbrush is thick.

The monument is an upright slab in the shape of Oregon, engraved with a picture of the Japanese sub I-25, which lobbed 17 shells at a nearby military base on June 21, 1942. Just west of the monument is a cement replica of one of the shells, marking the spot of its crater.
