The front yard castle is well maintained. The "shrine" also has a fairly elaborate wrought iron peacock and grinding stone, perhaps an homage to blacksmiths and lovers everywhere.

We wouldn't call it "huge," but it is impressive for an urn. Built by Bill Crabb for his second wife, Virginia, who died in 1993. (Bill was married three times.) Bill passed away on Christmas Eve, 2005, age 84, and joined Virginia in the castle. He was a blacksmith who, just before he died, built a "21-Gun Salute Machine" -- an automatic multiple-gun firer -- that he mounted on the back of a pickup truck and willed to the local VFW. Bill was concerned about the dwindling supply of honor guards for military funerals.
