In 1970, rock icon Janis Joplin died of a drug overdose, age 27, at what was then called the Landmark Motor Hotel. Fans used to be able to rent her room, #105, but not any more.

The hotel is now being used as a shelter. The area is a little run down; maybe someday it will be a public location again. You can walk by, but you can't go in.
