Around Halloween things were a little off in Tarpon Springs. During the night, an unknown prankster had quietly augmented the bronze statue to heroic sponge divers with a jaunty sponge hat (A natural sponge, natch). Seemed like a fitting costume for a sculpture across from the old Sponge Exchange.
What was surprising to us is this bit of heresy stayed in place for hours, and was still there when we left. A Sponge Docks tradition...?
