The ten-foot-tall, satisfyingly massive bear statue of Hill City has stood since 1985, when it was donated by a local hunting club. Not a scary, realistic bear.

- On the west side of US Hwy 169, just north of Lake Ave., in a little park in the middle of town. Set back a few hundred feet from the road; keep an eye out for it.

The Bear Statue is in a park as you drive through town; a nice place for a trip break and a picnic. Easy to find. It's not a scary bear; it's stylized, and a fun statue for staging different photos, like "bear hug" and "dancing bear."
