Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania: Decrepit Giant Coffee Mug (Gone)

In 2009 it was going to be a drive-thru espresso cafe in the shape of an enormous mug of Joe. Vaguely mug-like, boarded up ruin was eventually removed.

Spring St. and Schoolhouse Ln, just east of Mundy.

Decrepit Giant Coffee Mug

I'm sorry to say that this attraction no longer seems to be there. I put the intersection into my GPS and drove all around the area and was unable to find this giant mug attraction.

Coffee Mug building.

Giant Decrepit Coffee Mug

I wasn't sure if the coffee mug would still be standing, but I was passing Wilkes Barre and thought I'd risk a detour. It is in pretty bad shape, and looks like it's either going to be torn down or washed away, based on its condition. Still, it was exciting to see, I'm glad I went, and I would tell others interested in goofy roadside attractions to visit.

The even sadder coffee mug building, 2018.

Giant Coffee Mug

Run down and sad. Not worth a stop. Graffiti left much to be desired.

Coffee Cup.

Giant Coffee Cup

Love it! Hilarious and just 3 minutes off 84. Just stop and take a pic. Yes, it's not perfect, but the neighborhood is good. Commercial area. Nothing scary.

Coffee mug has seen better times.

Giant Coffee Mug

This is terrible. It is in a sketchy neighborhood and it is now just a building in disrepair that homeless people live in. If you look inside, there is a dirty mattress on the ground and garbage everywhere. Also a crumpled up tarp in a corner that resembles a dead body.

Don't bring your kids!
