A former elevator shaft converted into the smallest museum in New York City. Itty-bitty, but fully satisfying; has shoe thrown at George Bush in Iraq. Mmuseumm 2 opened next door in 2015, recreating the real closet of a woman who wore only white.

The Mmuseumm was very hard to find because it was closed on the day I was there. I walked right past it twice because the addresses are not marked clearly on any of the doorways. I finally saw some people in another doorway and they showed me where it was. I took photos to show what to look for if it is closed.
[signmanjoe, 01/06/2018]When I visited today ( 12 jan 2014), the docent told me that this was their last open date of the season. So maybe be prepared to view it only through the window.
