Only Submarine West of the Pecos
According to the signs, the "submarine" is named Passing Wind.
[Donna and Bill Blum, 01/02/2016]Jimmy built the submarine and ship himself. The submarine is a tribute to the Thresher... a submarine that filled with water and sank, killing all on board. Per our excellent tour guide, Angell Expeditions.

Just about 100 yards south of the turn-off for the Terlingua Ghost town you will see "Passing Wind." Inside the fence is a full-size conning tower of a submarine, a replica of a sailing ship, and a small Statue of Liberty that lights up at night.
Near as I can figure it is not a public attraction, but just some guy's yard art. It definitely comes as a surprise and shock to see a submarine surfacing in West Texas.
