Blob at the Colonial Theater.

Movie Theater From The Blob

Went for BlobFest 2022. They put a giant inflatable blob at the top and changed the marquee to match the movie. We saw a double feature of The Blob and When Worlds Collide. It's a blast watching the film inside the theater. Seems like they host a lot of fun events there.

Stopped to see the "Movie Theater From The Blob" -- lots of fun. Saw a movie for $5.

Blobfest - Theater Panic Re-enactment

Mark your calendars -- Friday, July 15, 2005 at 9:30 pm is the annual re-enactment of the crowd fleeing from the Colonial movie theater in the 1958 B-film classic "The Blob." The hosts will also conduct a "Scream Contest." Blob events continue on Saturday and Sunday, with a parade, appearances by locals who were extras, and celebrity guests -- including the Blob itself.

Town where The Blob was filmed, Blobfest

Right in the middle of Phoenixville stands the Colonial Theatre, which is the site of the blob's last supper in the 1958 sci-fi classic movie. Every July the theatre holds Blobfest, a weekend with multiple showings of the movie, appearences by locals who were extras in the movie, and for this year, the Blob itself!

The theater itself shows independent, art, and classic films year-round, with occasional music performances.

By the way, the diner in nearby Downingtown is NOT the original diner in the movie, though it is on the same spot! It is currently called Chef's, and breakfast there was rather disappointing. Worse yet, they've toned down the whole Blob connection.

Update: In December 2002, the neon marquee on the Colonial Theater was restored in time for its 100th anniversary in 2003. July 2003: Blob fans recreated the memorable "Run from the Theater" sequence at that year's Blobfest.
