After the assassination of JFK, Lee Harvey Oswald shot and killed police officer J.D. Tippit near the corner of 10th and Patton Streets in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas. Tippit died at the scene and Oswald was captured soon afterward at the nearby Texas Theatre.
