JD Tippit Murder Site

After the assassination of JFK, Lee Harvey Oswald shot and killed police officer J.D. Tippit near the corner of 10th and Patton Streets in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas. Tippit died at the scene and Oswald was captured soon afterward at the nearby Texas Theatre.

Oswald gunned down Tippit as he stepped out of his patrol car. The spot remained unmarked until 2012. Tippit's widow attended the dedication of the marker.
