In front of the Russia House, a bust concentrates, pressing his temples with his fingers. Spoon-bending psychic? Chess master? No! It's Andrei Sakharov, Soviet physicist, designer of its nuclear program, though later an activist awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Disappeared in March 2022, shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine.

The sculpture of Andrei Sakharov disappeared in March 2022, shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine. It had stood in front of "Russia House," which was just a restaurant, but which nevertheless felt compelled to permanently close and put Andrei in storage.
