Russell's Travel Center Museum

Not only does this place have a small but amazing museum of cars (mostly 1950-1968), but there is an excellent dog run (very clean) and a chapel! This is one of the only truck stops I would strongly recommend that folks see... especially if you have a dog and you like free car museums.

I happened upon this free museum of vintage cars and decorative items inside a travel center. I have been telling anyone I know who might pass it to take the time to stop. It's nicely presented and generously shared with the public!

Russell's Truckstop and Car Museum

What a special surprise! We stopped for a bathroom break and discovered a great gift shop, Route 66 diner, and an amazing car museum with a great and enthusiastic staff to show us around.

Russell's also claims to have "the best showers on the planet," so visitors may want to bring a towel for the full attraction experience.

Russell's Travel Center

Just off the interstate I-40 (Route 66) on the Texas - New Mexico State line. This travel center has a huge collection of mid-twentieth century vintage restored autos, gas pumps, toys and life-size cutouts of the "The Duke," Roy Rogers and others. The collection has been growing for the last 35 years or so and this is only a small portion of his total collection. Well worth the cost of admission (it's free!) if you're traveling this way, take some time to go down gasoline alley! (Memory Lane)
