The casket and funerary items are no longer on display, but the Cabildo is an amazing history museum. Still displays Napoleon's death mask.

We were having a lovely time in New Orleans and decided to visit the Louisiana State Museum at the Cabildo. It had lots of beautiful and interesting exhibits and a few really weird ones, too.
I loved the medical and funereal exhibits. Napoleon's death mask is a big draw, but I enjoyed the simpler things. For instance; the ceramic jar to hold leeches. And the the razor sharp lancets for bleeding patients. There were a couple of cast iron caskets both for adults and infants. Another favorite were the apothecary signs. Strange and fascinating.
When you're finished with the museum there's a beautiful park behind to stroll toward the river. we had a very enjoyable afternoon!
