Gallup, New Mexico: Galoop
Galoop is the name of a giant metal loop (Gallup + loop) that looks as if it should be part of a giant Hot Wheels race track. It's art, but it looks substantial enough to seem car-worthy.

The Galoop was a 1 Percent For the Arts state-funded project by Charles Mallery, a sculptor from Ramah, New Mexico. Two quarter-scale sculptures, one of which is installed in Santa Fe, were fabricated by Eidson Steel in Albuquerque to test the NC-generated cutouts that were used to create the piece. The design was modeled in 3D using FormZ, which exported the patterns to the metal cutting machine (full disclosure: I was the 3D modeler!). At the base, the metal is about 4 wide and an inch thick, but becomes thinner as the loop spirals down to about 6.

Found the Galoop easily but there's nowhere to park, so be careful snapping a photo.

Galoop is a giant loop that looks like it should be part of a giant a Hot Wheels track. There is no sign at the loop, and I could not find anything about it except its name. I even asked the Gallup McKinley County Chamber of Commerce, and they could only supply the name.
