Drive-in movie theater recreates a classic novelty postcard with a roadside truck and a giant potato. Windstorm toppled the screen in April 2022, but the potato was undamaged.

Sweet giant potato at still-running drive-in movie theater. The truck holding the potato has mini large potatoes in driver and passenger seats.

The Spud Drive-In has not closed. The drive-in is a local favorite and when the management threatened to close it, there was a public uproar.
There is nothing like watching a movie at a drive-in!! The milkshakes at The Spud are thick enough to last an entire movie and you can call ahead to have your hamburgers or shakes ready for you when you get there.
I got a tour of the projection room and the old fashioned reel tape projector from the owner a few years ago - a real treat! Bring a sleeping bag and watch from the grass right in front of the screen. The stars provide an awe inspiring show if the movie isn't so great....

The Spud Drive-In's 70-year-old screen was toppled by a windstorm on April 4, 2022, which meant that while a new screen is built the drive-in had to cancel screenings (likely until 2023). The sturdy potato was undamaged and is still there.
