Though the sitcom was filmed far from Minneapolis, this location was the exterior for Mary's apartment in a house in the early years of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (1970-1977). In 2015 it was for sale for $2 million.

In the show, Mary only occupied an upper floor studio apartment. Her fellow housemates included Phyllis (Cloris Leachman) and Rhoda (Valerie Harper, whose younger sister Brenda was played by Julie "Marge Simpson" Kavner).

Since this house was used for show exteriors for the fictional 119 N. Weatherly Avenue and Mary Richards' Apartment D, it became a popular sitcom tourist drive-by in the 1970s. It's private property, so the unobtrusive drive-by is about as much as you can do.
