Graffiti House - Civil War Cavalry Battle Hospital

Graffiti House is not far off the highway, and a sign out front details the nearby events of the Civil War. Even though we arrived during the operating hours listed [on the app], the door was locked and no hours were posted on the building. Graffiti House - Civil War Cavalry Battle Hospital

The Civil War battle of Fleetwood Hill was the largest calvary battle ever in North America. The nearby "Graffiti House" was used afterward as a hospital. Hundreds of Civil War soldiers wrote on the walls, including JEB Stuart.

Just across the street from the house is a recently relocated monument that marks the spot -- or near it, anyway -- where "The Gallant Pelham" was shot, one of the top-tier Southern martyrs of the Civil War.
