Unique competition pits two states on opposite banks of the Mississippi River against each other in an annual tug-of-war. Illinois currently leads Iowa 19 to 11.

[Mary, 07/31/2016]Every year, as part of a weekend-long street fair, the good folks of Port Byron, Illinois and LeClaire, Iowa, throw a big rope across the Mississippi River and have a tug-of-war between the two states. TugFest takes place in mid-August.
