Tarzana, California: Vanalden Cave
Locally known cave in the hills is a 20-ft. high room in sandstone, carved with initials, cartoon heads and skulls, and other graffiti.

- US Hwy 101 exit 24 to Ventura Blvd east, turn south on Vanalden Ave. and go 3 mi. to end. Hike 1/3 mile on Vanalden Trail side trail on left climbing hill to cave.

The trail up is pretty obvious until you get to the forks. At the first fork, go left on the more established trail. At the second fork, go left. When you hit the bottom of the ravine, go right. The cave will be visible within a few meters.
The place seems to be a hangout for the local youth, I encountered two small groups of them. Friendly enough, but be advised.
