Crapemyrtles (a.k.a. crepe myrtles) are popular throughout the South because they provide one of the few spots of color all summer long. They come in all shades of pinks and purple, plus white. Duncan bills itself as Oklahoma's crapemyrtle capital, with a large mural to that effect downtown, and a Crapemyrtle Trail outlined on a board in Duncan's Fuqua Park. The plants are usually in bloom from the first of July until the first frost.
