A wooden statue of an Indian chief holds sign that reads, "Bigfork Heap Good Town," whatever that means. The statue is adjacent to a military memorial on one side and several cute cutouts for photo ops on the other. A local told us that the statue is of Chief Busticogan, a popular and beloved Native American who lived in the traditional Ojibwe way until well after the white settlers had taken over. He died in about 1910.
