Spiky Viaduct

The "Spiky Viaduct" is actually an art installation by the Iowa West Foundation titled "Gateway" by artist Ed Carpenter. One of the coolest things about the sculpture is that the glass on the interlocking uprights shine as a different color on each side of the glass.

Spiky Viaduct

Council Bluffs must be known for unique, spiky structures. Not only do they have the spiky "Odyssey" and the big Golden Spike, they also have the Broadway Viaduct, which has spikes running along the span of it and crossing in the middle. It appears as though it was just completed not long ago. I read that the spikes are lit by LED at night, but I didn't verify that. The viaduct (which is for both vehicles and pedestrians) crosses multiple railroad tracks.
