Kings Park Psychiatric Center

It is a barren wasteland with its buildings slowly being lost to time. The state has made many attempts to sell the property for redevelopment and/or reuse, but because of the environmental cleanup price and the community opposition, it has thus far has been unsuccessful. It is owned by the state and is considered a public park. Just don't try to enter the buildings.

[Duska, 09/10/2013]

Kings Park Psychiatric Center was an insane asylum from 1885 to 1996. The inmate population of the 13-story building at one time topped 9,300. Asbestos contamination keeps it abandoned, and the polluted grounds are considered unsafe for pets.
