Hawks Greenhouse completely shuns North Pole's Christmas theme and instead displays enormous planters shaped as a dinosaur, bonnet-bearing pioneer ladies, and a horse. The ladies and horse symbolize Alaska's pioneer settlers and the dinosaur reminds us all that even large reptiles could not survive such harsh winters.
These sculptures are planted with flowers during the summer, so be sure to visit then to see their more colorful version.
