The "Strawberry Maiden" mentioned in the entry on Poteet isn't called that by locals. It is "Poteet Canyon," a character in Milt Caniff's comic strip "Steve Canyon," who was , according to the story line, an orphan found by Steve in a canyon near Poteet. Poetic license, as it happens, since there are no canyons for many, many miles around Poteet.
The descriptions of the overgrown strawberries around town are otherwise accurate.
