According to the sign, the pants were worn by The Cardiff Giant... a petrified giant which was a hoax. The giant is now on display at the farmers market in Cooperstown NY.

Big Pair of Pants

While we were talking with one of the salesmen about the origin of the giant pants, we found out why they were made. He said that a long while ago the Wrangler Co. made the pants and had a contest to see which customer could guess how many stitches were in the pants. The person who guessed closest to the actual count won a prize, but the salesman didn't know what that was.

Climb the stairs to the second floor of a local clothing store -- Homer Men and Boys' Store -- and you will find this giant pair of pants that would be fit for a mythical lumberjack. They appear to be the length of the floor to the ceiling.
