Cleveland, Ohio: Lincoln Gives Gun to a Slave

Unique bronze relief sculpture of a grim-faced Lincoln standing over a kneeling slave: in one hand Abe holds a set of broken shackles, in the other a big rifle, which he's handing to the freed man. Kill, kill, kill! Sculpted in 1894 by local artist Levi Scofield, restored in 2010.

Lincoln and freed slave.

Lincoln Gives Gun to a Slave

Is in the museum at the base of the monument, so check closing times or you can miss it. Hard to tell if he's giving a gun to an un-shackled man, or taking a gun away.

[Krishna Stacey, 08/02/2014]

Or perhaps he's newly freed, and enlisting in the Union Army to help free other slaves. Seems like unshackling and gun distribution wouldn't happen at the same time, though.
