John Arthur "Jack" Johnson, the "Galveston Giant," was the world's first black heavyweight boxing champion (1908-1915). His 2012 bronze sculpture is posed as if about to throw a knockout punch.

- From Wy 87 turn south at the monument onto 25th St. Drive three blocks. Turn right onto Ave. M. Drive one block. The statue will be on the left, in a little park on the southwest corner of Ave. M and 26th St.

The statue is half size of the real Jack Johnson, who was 6'2" tall. Newly constructed in 2012. Nice but small corner park that was gated/locked on a Sunday when we visited. Easily viewed from outside the fencing though.
