Muffler Man tipped by high winds
Muffler Man - Paul Bunyan "Fix-It" -- High winds or too much to drink?
[Bruce Kennedy, 02/10/2020]Muffler Man - Weaponized Bunyan
In the Bell Plastics yard, Bruce Kennedy doesn't generally leave Paul Bunyan's giant ax in his statue's hands -- he's concerned it's too tempting as a souvenir for after-hours interlopers (and expensive to replace). But for special occasions, the fiberglass double-bladed chopper comes out of the office, maneuvered into position from a scissors lift.
The as-yet-unnamed statue (Bruce is leaning towards the always classy "Paul Bunyan") stands in front of Big Mike, the original purchase that started Bruce on his Muffler Man and big statue acquisition craze.
Yesterday the American Giants video crew was interviewing Bruce for an upcoming episode on his cluster of Muffler Men.
[RoadsideAmerica.com Team, 04/12/2014]Bunyan Muffler Man and Santa Arrive
Bell Plastics owner Bruce Kennedy reports he has two new giant figures in his business parking lot: a 12-ft. tall Santa Claus and a 20-ft. tall Paul Bunyan Muffler Man. He bought them from an owner in Paramount, CA, where they'd been in his family since their original purchase from International Fiberglass in the early 1960s. The Santa is one of three that had been together, but all have been sold.
Bruce acquired and restored two other fiberglass giants in the past year -- a cowboy and a Bunyan. Hayward is now California's most densely populated haven for Muffler Men. "Paul Bunyan" is as yet unnamed, though we're guessing we'll know soon enough the new identity of the guy joining Big Mike and Big Don.
