Kemp, Texas: Kemp Calaboose: Bonnie Parker's Little Jail
During one of Bonnie and Clyde's many run-ins with the law, Bonnie was caught. She spent the night of April 19-20, 1932, in the tiny brick jail in Kemp. Townspeople stared at her through the barred windows; she supposedly spit in the faces of some of them.

- US Hwy 175 Business into town. Turn west onto 11th St. Drive two blocks. You'll see the tiny jail standing alone, under a tree, on the right, with a historical marker out front.

Very close to the freeway exit and worth the stop if you're traveling east of Dallas. We had never heard of a calaboose (freestanding single cell often seen in small towns) before, so it was interesting to see one. Standing there you can easily imagine the curiosity that stirred in this small town.

The official plaque next to the calaboose entrance hedges about the Bonnie claim: "It is legended that Bonnie (of Bonnie and Clyde fame) and one other member of the Barrow Gang were held here in 1932."
