13,000 years ago, a woolly mammoth had the unfortunate experience of dying (possibly by human predation). Unlucky for the woolly mammoth, but lucky for us, its remains were found in 1977 in Warrenville and the headless skeleton moved to the Fullersburg Woods Nature Center. The skull was never found.
Also at the Nature Center is a giant bird nest that kids can climb up into and pretend that they are freakishly large chicks begging for enormous worms from their parents.
