At first the fenced concrete area appeared like a scene out of The Incredible Shrinking Man, with me as the shrunken one. On closer inspection I realized the behemoth table and bucket were part of a minuscule water park for children. Children enjoy the punishing plunging dumps they receive from a swinging giant sippy cup. Paul Bunyan's flower power watering can jet sprays, while an old school water faucet and menacing snake hose create their own special wild watery fun.
It had just closed as we passed by on the boardwalk, the fence soundly locked. I didn't see a booth or sign asking money for the water torture, so perhaps it's a gift from the township for the aquatic youth of tomorrow. (on further research, Asbury Splash Park requires $5.00 per adult-- $9.00 per child!! First time I've ever seen kids pay more than their parents.)
