It's a 1950s Douglas A-4C Skyhawk, previously at the Kingsville Naval Air Station.
US Hwy 77, Kingsville, TX
South edge of town, on the west side of US Hwy 77, in Dick Kleberg Park. You can't get to the jet from the highway, so visitors who want to get up close should navigate to 501 E. Escondido Rd, which is the park entrance.

While driving to South Padre Island, my wife and I spotted a Navy jet sitting on a post just off Highway 77 south of Kingsville. Didn't see a plaque, but after researching a bit, found out there's a Naval air station nearby.
