The two cow heads at the Perkins are there because it used to be an ice cream parlor. One of the heads was a bull. It had a ring in its nose, but that's now been changed.
[Billy Bray, 10/07/2023]The pancake house was formerly the Shadowbrook Dairy Bar, which opened in 1955, and was sometimes called the Twin Cows (at least I remember hearing it called that as a kid). The Dairy Bar gradually expanded to include golf, mini-golf, a campground, bowling lanes, and a motel. It was sold separately in 2002 and became the pancake house, but the Twin Cows are still on a sign next to the building.

I'd understand this unusual display [at a Perkins Restaurant] if the business it ballyhooed were a steakhouse or even a hamburger joint. But when I think of pancakes, cows don't pop into my mind -- unless I have a craving for flapjacks with butter, but that's a stretch. Whatever the reason, it's good to see a giant animal head when traveling.
