Prescott Valley, Arizona: Big Pioneer Woman Holds Headless Rattlesnake
Bronze, ten feet tall, unveiled in 2013. Officially titled, "Not-So-Gentle-Tamer," the statue salutes the toughness of the women who settled in the Arizona Territory.

- From Hwy 69 turn north onto N. Lake Valley Rd (look for the McDonald's arches). Drive north about a mile until the road ends at E. Lakeshore Drive. The municipal complex will be straight ahead; the statue stands in front of it, slightly to the right of the intersection.

Sculptor Debbie Gessner modeled this "Not-so-Gentle-Tamer" after a painting by Bob Boze Bell whose inspiration was his own grandmother Louise Guess, an Arizona rancher's wife whom he remembers calmly dispatching snakes with her trusty hoe.
