Catfish Hunter Museum
Major League Baseball star Jim "Catfish" Hunter was born (and died) in Hertford, and there's a small museum devoted to him in the downtown Perquimans County Chamber of Commerce/Visitor Center.
It has all sorts of Catfish memorabilia, most of it donated by fans and townspeople: caps, jackets, bats, balls, baseball cards, pennants, photographs, newspaper clippings, magazines, posters -- just about everything you would expect to find in a baseball hero's home town memorial. The donations continue to come in, too.
Not too long ago the museum moved from its original location to a much larger room across the hall.
