I don't see how the (restored) engine could ever run. The wheels are welded to the frame. Did the restoration eliminate the functionality?
[Steve, 07/17/2019]The train is now a block off of the square in Canyon at the corner of 16th and 6th. it is on the south side of the parking lot behind the Canyon Chamber of Commerce and the Texas musical office.
[Anonymous, 07/05/2017]We looked for it on our way to the Palo Duro Canyon today and couldn't find it. Maybe the state of disrepair sent it to its grave?

The location is west of the canyon, not east. Also, the train is in a severe state of disrepair, and has been moved a few hundred feet to the west of the GPS (map pin) location. It is no longer in front of a house, but a barn.

[Stacy Simonet, 02/15/2014]The Sad Monkey was a miniature train tour piloted by an engineer who provided a running commentary on rock formations, plants and other things in Palo Duro Canyon State Park. The train was named after a rock formation that has since fallen down. Sad monkey!
