San Diego, California: Statues of Bum and Greyfriars Bobby
Bum was the town mooch dog of San Diego from 1887 to 1898. People in bars would give Bum food and booze. San Diego is the sister city of Edinburgh, Scotland, which has its own famous dog, the tiny Greyfriars Bobby. Bronze statues of both dogs are in both cities; San Diego wisely positioned them next to each other. Bum lost a paw in a fight with another dog, so his statue only has three paws as well.
