The Boulder Field

Glad I went, never seen anything like it. Definitely wear good shoes if you plan on walking on the boulders. FYI there is approximately 3 miles of dirt/non-paved road to get there. Last but not least: just sit there and enjoy the quiet.

The Boulder Field

What a massive natural phenomenon. Wear sturdy hiking shoes when going here. Your ankles will thank you.

An Entire Field of Boulders

Located in Hickory Run State Park, Boulder Field is an area of various sized and shaped boulders up to 26 feet long, in a flat 400 by 1,800 foot field formed by glacial action. The boulders consist of red sandstone and conglomerates. Under Boulder Field are the source waters for Hickory Run Creek. This area was declared a National Natural Landmark and has remained unchanged for more then 20,000 years. It is a rare oddity and wonderful to actually see a field of boulders! I loved it when I was a kid and my kids love it!
