The legs have been moved. They're now on Dwight Street, parallel to Route 58, between Ocean Avenue and Short Street. They stand between a section of railroad tracks in front of an old barrel manufacturing site.

Myles Standish's Legs

12 ft. tall granite legs are from the original Myles Standish statue in Duxbury. The top half was hit by lightning and destroyed in 1922. These legs were found in a Quincy Quarry in the 1990s. You can see these on Route 58 in Halifax, just after Ocean Ave but before the Hanson town line.

June 2014: photo added. A complete Myles Standish statue copy stands atop the 100-ft. monument in Duxbury that attracted the August 26, 1922 lightning strike. The original lower portion of the statue was found in a quarry where it had been dumped. Scorch marks from the lightning can still be seen on the legs.
