Leakey, Texas: McLaurin Massacre Site
A roadside memorial marks the site of the last settlers killed by Indians in Real County. The victims are buried in the oldest graves in Leakey Cemetery. Despite the "massacre" label, only two settlers were attacked and died.

- From downtown Leakey drive north on US Hwy 83 for one mile. Turn left onto Ranch Rd 336 and drive six miles. The monument will be on the right, next to the road.

Site of the last Indian massacre in Real County. You can still see the location, and in the Leakey cemetery is the burial site of the victims -- the first burials in a community cemetery (100+ years old). One of the victims was a young boy killed by Lypian Apaches.
